Morganella subincarnata (Pk.) Kreisel & Dring Fruit body 1-3cm across, roundish to pear-shaped; surface with cinnamon-buff to brownish spines and warts in groups when young; conspicuously pitted in maturity when spines have worn off. Spore mass grayish or brownish, purple-tinged in maturity. Sterile base well developed or almost none. Spores globose, ornamented, 3.5-4 x 3.5-4µ. Habitat scattered or in groups on damp, mossy logs in hardwood forests, or on beech, birch, or maple slash. Sometimes common. Found in eastern North America. Season August-October. Edibility not known.
